Dear Parents,
As I sit here writing this note to you, your children are having STEP–UP–DAY in First
Grade. They are a combination of a bit nervous and excited for this hour–long visit.
It has been a wonderful year–sometimes seeming like it would never end (think winter clothes) and sometimes seeming like I wish it would all slow down (think now)! But everyone has worked hard, made friends, and hopefully learned a bit about responsibility (if they try, they can do it)!
This has been a very special week! Here we are with our fire hats on! On Monday, we had planned a secret field trip to the fire and ambulance station. On Tuesday, we invited in third and fourth graders to help with portfolios and read together. We shared popsicles to thank them for their help this year, especially with winter clothes and walking to lunch.
On Wednesday, the famous beach trip occurred (did your child sleep well Wednesday night?).
On Thursday we had STEP–UP–DAY, and on Friday we have the annual Field Day and hot dog cook out, followed by dismissal at noon.
So now it is time to say good-bye, and for me it has been a special year. Your children are ready for first grade, and especially summer! I hope they read over the summer, and they also have summer work from Mrs. Nichols––please look for it in their backpacks.
Take care, and I hope to see you around sometime,
Sincerely,
Nancy Hatch
